Clásico del cine negro con mayúsculas.
Un poli se suicida y deja una carta comprometedora para mucha gente en la que confesaba todo el lío de sobornos que había en el cuerpo por parte de mafiosos y demás.
Un agente sospecha que no es sólo un suicidio inocente sin más sino que esa muerte esconde una oscura trama, así que decide ocuparse del asunto y llegar hasta el final. Obviamente toda esa gente comprometida por la carta no le pondrán las cosas fáciles.
Todo un clásico en cuanto al argumento y el estilo. Clásicos también los personajes y la estética. La trama, la tensión, la forma de mentir... Todo clásico, y cuando digo clásico quiero decir buena vieja escuela.
Películas como ésta dieron su nombre al mejor género de la mejor época de Hollywood.

Epic old school Cinema Noir piece.
A cop kills himself after writing an explicit letter where He explains the dark side of his partners, who are suborned by the mafia.
A young agent can't believe the simplicity of the history and begin to look into the circumstances, but all that people who is affected by the last words of the repentant victim will try to complicate the way of the man in the search of truth.
A true classic argument reinforced by a classic style. The characters and their aesthetics are pretty classic too. I'd like to say that the meanin' of classic in this example is Golden-Old-School.
... That tension. That eyes... ¡That way of lying!...
Movies like this one have given its name to the best genre ever into the best days of Hollywood: true Cinema Noir.
